This event is always well-attended, even though the quality of hockey is usually less-than-stellar. It's for a good cause after all (St. Jude's Hospital this time), and it's always fun watching Laughlin, Army and Hunter out on the ice again. Last year, the game was a lot closer (possibly because Steve Kolbe was in goal for the Caps last year!); this time when I left after the second period, it was 8-0 Alumni (ouch!). Halpern and Klee made their appearance and took off (game the next day). Langway was patrolling the blueline with aplomb, while his forwards kept the puck in the Coconuts' zone for the majority of the game. Missed passes, slow wheels, mascot interference--this game had it all! And when it was done, the Alumni had raised $10,000 for St. Jude's--not too shabby!
