The major
event of today's scrimmage was a series of fights/altercations
between Mel Angelstad and Darcy Verot |

You can go here
to find out the history between Verot and the members of the Portland
Pirates, many of whom are at camp. |

After the
first altercation, the official tries to get Angelstad to calm down;
clearly, he was unsuccessful |

Later in the
scrimmage, Angelstad and Verot drop the gloves and get to it . . . |

with Angelstad taking the brunt of the damage, as evidenced by his
crimson face and sweater. He went off for repairs. |

After he came
back, Angelstad went after Verot again. It appeared that Verot
got his stick up in Angelstad's face, bloodying him. Angelstad
went off for repairs again |

After the 3rd
altercation, Verot is questioned by Kono on the bench. |

Angelstad
comes back a fourth time, and immediately goes after Verot again . . . |

. . .
everyone on the ice tries to keep Angelstad and Verot apart . . . |

. . .
Angelstad keeps circling, trying to get at Verot . . . |

. . .
finally he gets free, and clocks Verot in the face with his
stick. Verot goes down . . . |

. . .
Verot gets back up, apparently uninjured, and everyone clusters
around again, trying to keep the guys apart . . . |

. . .
Kono tries to calm down Angelstad . . . |

. . .
but has trouble doing so . . . |

. . .
finally Coach Army has to escort Angelstad from the ice . . . |

. . .
and the teams get back to the hockey game at hand. All of this
last incident was accompanied by booing and shouts from the crowd. |

After the
scrimmage, Army talked to Verot awhile. Hopefully, Verot and
Angelstad went to separate dressing rooms! |
