Goals
|
I cannot tell you how many goal pictures I've taken that look like this |
It's not so easy getting pictures of goals. You must sit with camera at the ready, finger on the shutter, focused and ready to go. You must sit as still as possible. To MCI staff, it looks as though I am video-taping, because I have been approached countless times by various ushers who were worried I had a video camera. Fortunately, Sony decided to print "still camera" right on its body, so I just have to show them and they leave me alone. Gradually, most of the regulars have become familiar with me and the camera, and are very nice about it, one even asking what kind of camera it was and how I liked it. So you see, it's not easy to even USE the camera unmolested,, much less using it to take good pictures of goals being scored! Lots of blurry ones, folks. If I printed out all the blurry goal pics on my hard drive, I might be able to paper my (albeit small) bathroom!
I guarantee that most, if not all, of these pictures were power play goals. The power play provides the best opportunity to get good goal pics because 1) the Caps had a pretty good power play this year as we all know, and 2) that power play was fairly predictable with Bondra and Gonchar on the points, so you could almost anticipate the goals. All except number 2 were 2nd period goals--it's well-nigh impossible to get good goal pictures where the Caps shoot twice (my end), so it's good we scored a lot in the 2nd period this year!
Hard to keep the camera still when everyone is jumping up celebrating! :-) So, here are my picks for the best 7 goal photos from the 00-01 season. Please take a sec to vote and let me know which one YOU like best! You'll find the poll at the bottom of the page. Thanks!
